Woodpile Studios won the 14th Annual Webby Award in the Government Category for its interactive online feature, NASA Home and NASA City. In collaboration with the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) and exceedingly talented strategic interactive and development partners, Woodpile Studios concepted and developed this interactive experience for NASA’s Exploration Systems Mission Directorate, Public Outreach Department. The objective of this effort was to provide an entertaining and accessible tool for educating the nation on how the global public benefits extensively through critical scientific breakthroughs, technological advancements and product innovation which resulting either directly, or in part, through NASA research and development conducted for space exploration. Woodpile Studios won the Graphis Gold Award for its contribution to Graphis Logo Design 8. Graphis produces this prestigious hardbound book of world-class logos once every few years, and Peter Buttecali’s logo for Consumers Digest's 50th Anniversary was selected from an international pool of over 1,000 entries from some of the best brand designers around the globe.
Two logos designed by Peter Buttecali (for Amtrak and The Association of Higher EducationFacilities Officers, respectively) were selected by Graphis International for publication in their prestigious Graphis Logo Design 3 book.
Woodpile Studios received this prestigious award for the Ocean Conservancy 2008 Summer Magazine, Coral, and enjoyed several years of producing these 40-page, full-color quarterlies.
WSWA San Francisco tradeshow logo was exhibited in the ADCMW’s 53rd Annual Showand Catalogue, and received an ADDY Award.
Woodpile Studios’ Art Directors (and Corcoran College of Art + Design alumni) Marti Davila and Richard Friend were among 56 alumni from the classes of 1978–2008 selected; and annual reports they designed for Ocean Conservancy and The Nature Conservancy, respectively, were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art’s Gallery 31 from October 30–December 4, 2008.
